Celler Clos 93
In the small town of El Lloar, with less than 150 inhabitants, just 5 km from Gratallops in the Priorat, we can find two brothers Josep María and Ruben Sabaté and their uncle Pepo with a project and lot of passion.
It is their passion for wine that makes them in 2010 to start writing the history of the Celler Clos 93.
The vines are between 20 and 25 years old planted on licorella (slate) and red clay and cultured without intervention, with the utmost respect for the nature.
In 2013, Celler Clos 93 presents its new creation with a clone of Garnatxa del Po.
Our story began at the end of 2011, a rainy day, gathered in Can Carlets, in a restaurant in Porrera (Priorat). They found a vineyard with a different variety, a Garnacha clone called Garnaxta del Po, native to the area. They began its recovery in the vineyard, about 60 years old, with ecological fertilizer, and with a pruning that respects the lunar cycles.
This clone of Grenache had existed for many years in the Priorat, but was torn by the complications of its elaboration. Currently there is only 0.01% worldwide.
They start to experiment from the vineyard, wanting to elaborate a monovarietal and different wine, respecting the Terroir.
The Garnatxa del Po is a grape that takes long to reach the minimum 13,5 alcoholic graduation, to be able to be inside DOQ Priorat. The first harvest of Garnatxa del Pol was on October 13, 2013. Both DOQ Priorat and INCAVI organisation collaborated in the project of Garnatxa del Po.
